Your hydrometer logs itself.

Point your iSpindel, Tilt, RAPT Pill or GravityMon at BrewForge. Every reading lands on your brew, with a projected final gravity and the moment to close your spunding valve.

Add your device, paste the URL, done

Create the device in BrewForge, copy its URL and paste it into the device's HTTP settings. The device key travels in the query string or as a Bearer token. Assign the device to a brew and its readings attach to that brew.

  • iSpindel and Hydrom
  • Tilt via TiltBridge or TiltPi — one TiltBridge feeds every colour into its own device
  • RAPT Pill via the RAPT cloud webhook
  • GravityMon
  • Custom Stream for any device that sends JSON, query or form data

Gravity, temperature and a projected FG

Readings land on your brew every time your device reports. From the gravity drop over the last 24 hours BrewForge projects when the beer will hit its final gravity, so you know whether to plan the cold crash for Thursday or Saturday. No WiFi hydrometer? Add gravity and temperature readings by hand.

  • Gravity and temperature on one chart
  • Projected final gravity with an estimated time to reach it
  • Current ABV and apparent attenuation from your latest reading
  • Manual readings alongside device readings

Know when to close the spunding valve

Close the valve too early and the beer is flat, too late and you have to force carbonate. BrewForge calculates the gravity at which to close it for your target pressure and projects from your readings when you will get there.

  • Spunding on a primary, secondary or tertiary stage
  • Target pressure and stage temperature give the CO₂ you still need
  • Adjustable safety margin, 4 gravity points by default
  • Forecast time on the brew, the calendar and your ICS feed

Fermentation profiles that fill your calendar

Build a profile once and reuse it. When you brew, each stage turns into dated events, so "dry hop on day 4" and "cold crash on day 10" show up on the right day without you counting.

  • Primary, secondary, tertiary, cold crash, conditioning and carbonation stages
  • Ramp hours, pressure and spunding per stage
  • Dated events for dry hop additions and removals, other additions and temperature changes
  • Events in the in-app calendar and the ICS feed for your phone

Brew notes and reminders

Write down the stuck airlock, the extra yeast nutrient or the temperature bump next to the readings it explains. Set a reminder and it shows up on your calendar.

  • Observation, issue, adjustment, note and reminder types
  • Reminders appear on the calendar and in the ICS feed

BJCP score sheets Pro

Judge your own beer against the style, then send the link to your club and collect their score sheets on the same brew.

  • Aroma, appearance, flavour, mouthfeel and overall impression
  • Several evaluations per brew
  • A public link so friends or club members can fill in a score sheet

Fermentation on a TRMNL display Pro

Put a TRMNL e-ink display next to the fermentation chamber and see where your batch stands without opening a browser.

  • Gravity and temperature chart on e-ink
  • Install the BrewForge plugin from TRMNL

FAQ

Fermentation tracking questions

Which hydrometers work with BrewForge?

iSpindel, Hydrom (it speaks the iSpindel protocol), Tilt via TiltBridge or TiltPi, RAPT Pill via the RAPT cloud webhook and GravityMon. Anything else that can send HTTP can be connected as a Custom Stream, where you map the fields of its JSON, query string or form payload to gravity, temperature, battery, angle, pressure, weight or volume.

How often are readings logged?

As often as your device reports. BrewForge stores every reading it receives and attaches it to the brew the device is assigned to. The reporting interval is set on the device itself, for example the iSpindel's sleep interval.

How does the spunding valve forecast work?

Enable spunding on a primary, secondary or tertiary stage of your fermentation profile and set the pressure. BrewForge works out the gravity at which the remaining fermentation produces enough CO₂ for that pressure at the stage temperature, adds a safety margin (4 gravity points by default) and projects from your readings when the beer will reach it. The forecast shows on the brew, in the calendar and in the ICS feed.

Do I need a paid plan for fermentation tracking?

No. Device logging, the gravity chart, projected FG, the spunding forecast, fermentation profiles and brew notes are included in the Free plan (up to 20 brews). BJCP score sheets and the TRMNL display are part of Pro.
