Know what's in the cellar before brew day.
Track every lot of malt, hops, yeast and misc, deduct it when you brew and see what each batch cost. Pro shows the shortages across all your planned brews.
Every lot with its own numbers
The Pilsner malt from your last sack and the one from the new delivery are not the same. Each lot keeps its own amount, price and analysis values, so recipes and costs use the numbers on the bag in front of you.
- Fermentables, hops, yeasts and misc
- Per-lot colour, potential and alpha acid
- Harvest year for hops, manufacture and expiry dates
- Cost and supplier on every lot
Supplier catalogs and your own ingredients
Ingredient packages are supplier catalogs you can subscribe to, so their malts, hops and yeasts are ready to pick in recipes and inventory. Anything missing goes into your own ingredient library.
- Subscribe to ingredient packages from suppliers
- Add your own ingredients in My Ingredients
Deducted on brew day, costed per batch
On brew day BrewForge lines up the recipe's ingredients with your inventory. Pick the lots, deduct, and the stock is correct for the next recipe you plan.
- Recipe ingredients matched to your stock
- Choose the lot to deduct from
- Cost split into fermentables, hops, yeast and misc
- Cost per litre and per 0.33 L bottle
Shortages before brew day Pro
Plan the Pils for next week and the planner shows you are 2.6 kg of Pilsner malt short — before you have mashed in, not during.
- Projected stock across every planned brew
- Shortage list with a badge in the sidebar
- Quantities already on order count towards your stock
- Turn shortages into an order list
Order lists and receiving Pro
Order from the shortage list, mark it as ordered and receive what arrives. Half the hops still on backorder? The order stays partial until the rest comes in, and the shipping cost ends up in your ingredient prices.
- Draft, ordered, partial and received statuses
- An optional supplier label on each order
- Receive deliveries straight into inventory
- Shipping cost spread across the items in proportion to their price
Bring your Brewfather inventory
Upload your Brewfather export, review the matches and your stock is where you left it.
- Inventory imported with your batches, recipes and profiles
- Ingredients matched to your inventory, My Ingredients or ingredient packages
Inventory, brew-day deduction and cost per batch are included in Free (up to 20 brews), Basic and Pro. The inventory planner and order lists are Pro.

Inventory questions
Can I track several lots of the same malt or hop?
Yes. Every inventory entry is its own lot with amount, cost, supplier and dates. A lot can override the ingredient's colour, potential or alpha acid, so this year's Saaz at 3.2% AA and last year's at 2.8% stay apart. Hops keep their harvest year, yeasts their manufacture and expiry dates.
How is the cost of a brew calculated?
From the prices on your inventory lots. BrewForge splits the cost into fermentables, hops, yeast and misc, shows the cost per litre and per 0.33 L bottle, and lists any ingredient that has no price yet.
Does BrewForge warn me when I run low?
On Pro, the inventory planner projects your stock across all planned brews and lists every shortage, with a badge in the sidebar while there are any. There are no email or push notifications.
Can I bring my inventory from Brewfather?
Yes. The Brewfather import brings your inventory along with batches, recipes and profiles, and matches each ingredient to your existing inventory, My Ingredients or a subscribed ingredient package. Exact name matches are suggested automatically, the rest you pick by hand.
