Tilt readings, on the right brew.

Forward your Tilt hydrometer through TiltBridge or TiltPi to BrewForge. One bridge can feed several Tilt colours into separate brews.

One bridge, every colour

Add your TiltBridge or TiltPi once as a Tilt Bridge device. Each colour that reports through it is created as its own device under the bridge, so the red Tilt can follow your lager while the green one follows the wheat beer.

  • Colours appear automatically after their first reading

Gravity, temperature and where it is heading

Readings go into the fermentation log of the attached brew: gravity and temperature on one chart, projected final gravity and a spunding valve forecast next to it.

  • Gravity Offset per Tilt for calibration

Set up in three steps

You need a TiltBridge or TiltPi that already sees your Tilt and is connected to Wi-Fi. BrewForge shows these instructions again under Setup Instructions in the device menu.

  1. 1
    Add the device in BrewForge
Open Devices → Add Device. Choose Tilt Bridge for several Tilts or Tilt Hydrometer for a single one, name it and copy the webhook URL.
  2. 2
Paste the URL into your bridge
In the TiltBridge or TiltPi settings, add a custom URL webhook and paste the full webhook URL.
  3. 3
Attach each Tilt to a brew
Once a colour has reported, it shows up under the bridge. Use Attach to Brew on the colour (not on the bridge) or connect it from the brew's Fermentation tab.

Example payload

BrewForge accepts Tilt readings as JSON or as form fields, with either Color, SG and Temp or color, gravity and temperature.

The colour decides which device under a Tilt Bridge gets the reading. Temperatures are read as °F unless the payload sets temp_units to C.

If readings don’t show up

  • Check that the bridge has Wi-Fi with internet access and that the Tilt is within Bluetooth range of it.
  • Copy the complete webhook URL, including ?key=….
  • A colour only appears under the bridge after its first reading arrives.
  • Attach the colour devices to your brews. The bridge itself can't be attached.
  • Temperatures far too low? Your bridge may be sending °C without saying so. BrewForge reads Tilt temperatures as °F unless temp_units is C.
  • Open Recent Data on the device to see the last payloads BrewForge received.

Hydrometer logging is included in every plan: Free (up to 20 brews), Basic and Pro.

FAQ

Tilt questions

Do I need a TiltBridge or TiltPi?

Yes. The Tilt itself only broadcasts over Bluetooth. A TiltBridge or a TiltPi picks up the signal and forwards the readings to BrewForge over Wi-Fi.

Can I log several Tilts at once?

Yes. Add one device of type Tilt Bridge. Each Tilt colour that reports through it appears as its own device under the bridge, and you attach each colour to a different brew.

Which temperature unit does BrewForge expect?

Tilts report °F, so BrewForge reads Tilt temperatures as °F and converts them to °C, unless the payload sets temp_units to C.

Do I need a paid plan for Tilt logging?

No. Hydrometers can be connected on every plan, including Free (up to 20 brews).
