RAPT Pill readings, forwarded to your brew.

Add a custom webhook in the RAPT Portal and your Pill's gravity and temperature land on the BrewForge brew it is attached to, with projected FG and a spunding forecast.

From the RAPT cloud to your brew

The Pill keeps talking to the RAPT cloud. A webhook there sends a copy of each reading to BrewForge, where it joins the rest of the batch: recipe, brew day measurements and fermentation log in one place.

  • Gravity and temperature on the brew's fermentation chart
  • Projected final gravity and a spunding valve forecast
  • Gravity Offset in the device settings for calibration

Set up in three steps

You need a RAPT Pill that already reports to the RAPT Portal. BrewForge shows the webhook URL and the payload template after you create the device, and again under Setup Instructions in the device menu.

  1. 1
    Add the device in BrewForge
Open Devices → Add Device, choose RAPT Pill and create it. Copy the webhook URL and the payload template.
  2. 2
Create a custom webhook in the RAPT Portal
Open the ☰ menu → My Account → Webhooks, create a new Custom Webhook, name it "brewforge", paste the URL and set the method to POST. Paste the template in the Payload tab, select your Pill in the Devices tab and save.
  3. 3
    Attach it to a brew
Use Attach to Brew in the device menu, or connect the Pill from the brew's Fermentation tab.

Example payload

RAPT fills in the @ placeholders before sending. BrewForge reads gravity and temperature and adds them to the attached brew.

Keep @temperature and @gravity without quotes so they arrive as numbers.

If readings don’t show up

  • Check that the Pill is connected to Wi-Fi and its readings show up in the RAPT Portal.
  • Copy the complete webhook URL, including ?key=…, and set the method to POST.
  • Make sure your Pill is selected in the webhook's Devices tab.
  • Paste the payload template unchanged, with the numeric placeholders not in quotes.
  • Readings arrive but not on your brew: attach the device to the brew.
  • Open Recent Data on the device to see the last payloads BrewForge received.

Hydrometer logging is included in every plan: Free (up to 20 brews), Basic and Pro.

FAQ

RAPT Pill questions

Does BrewForge connect to the RAPT Pill directly?

No. The Pill reports to the KegLand RAPT cloud as usual. A custom webhook in the RAPT Portal forwards every reading to BrewForge.

What do I paste into the RAPT webhook payload?

BrewForge shows a small JSON template with device_id, device_name, temperature and gravity placeholders after you create the device. Paste it unchanged into the Payload tab of the webhook.

Can I keep using the RAPT Portal?

Yes. The webhook only forwards a copy of each reading. Your Pill keeps reporting to RAPT as before.

Do I need a paid plan for the RAPT Pill?

No. Hydrometers can be connected on every plan, including Free (up to 20 brews).
